The Canadian Copyright Act is a federal law that protects intellectual property.
In 1993, Alberta's Minister of Education signed a Provincial Print License with the Canadian Reprography Collective. This license allows teachers of participating school authorities and private schools to make class sets of materials outlined in the License. If your school is part of the License, there will be a green and red poster and an Exclusions List over every photocopy machine in your school.
The License covers only print materials. Always check the copyright page at the front of a title to see whether the rights are reserved or permission to copy has been given.

Distance Learning materials published by Alberta Education have all rights reserved and therefore cannot be copied in whole or in part unless permission granted by the copyright holder.
